How A Professional Cleaner Judges Your Home?

With so limited time on our hands these days a lot of homeowners are outsourcing their cleaning duties to a professional.

And according to Rita Dossis from Maid in Melbourne those cleaners know straight away how filthy a house is going to be just by looking at the kitchen.

‘If they keep on top of the kitchen, wash dishes and put items away, then the cleaner knows that the client really wants them to concentrate on cleaning,’ she told Domain.

‘Not wasting precious time picking up items off the floor or washing up last night’s dinner pots, pans and dishes.’

If the general kitchen floor area looks ready to be mopped and wiped down with minimal fuss than the rest of the house will likely be the same, she reasoned.

Ms Dossis also told the publication that one of the hardest parts of the job is when clients don’t give her enough cleaning implements to use.

”When clients only offer the cleaner one bottle of Spray and Wipe and two Chux – they should not expect miracles. It is like giving a plumber a hammer and asking him to fix a leaking tap,’ she said.

Other cleaners took to Reddit to explain which parts of the house we should be focusing more on.

‘When I did housekeeping during college, I noticed that many people neglect to take down their shower curtains periodically for washing,’ one woman said.

‘That’s the accumulation of body oils, fluids, etc that has splashed off your body. You can disinfect and make a bathroom sparkle, however, the stench off the ripe curtain…ick.’

Another looked at a kitchen-sized accessory: ‘The dish drying rack. I’ve never seen anyone with one that wasn’t horrific looking.’

‘People forget to clean their taps, door handles and light switches, yet they are probably the most used item,’ a third added.

Inside microwaves, the top of ceiling fans and the top of mattresses were also areas pointed out as most often neglected.
